Before the invention of wallpaper and carpets the Romans and Greeks used Mosaics to adorn walls and floors of their villas.
Today Mosaics are used in a similar fashion but also in art form to remind us of a time spent in a warmer Mediterranean climate.
The artist Michael Rogers tries to recreate those memories in his creations and to give people in not so warm countries the reflective pleasure of mosaics using coloured glass and recycled glass tiles.
Each mosaic is hand produced using skills learnt over many years. They can be mounted on weatherproof board and framed to give an oil painting feel with the added attraction that you can take the mosaic with you should you move.
Alternatively they can be created directly onto an inside or outside floor or wall. All enhance the feel of light as each tile reflects the summer suns rays or the glow of winter firelight.
